Recently, Consul General Guo Shaochun presented the "Commemorative Medal for the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression" to Flying Tigers Veteran Mel McMullen and Lydia Rossi, widow of Veteran John Richard “Dick” Rossi. 
Consul General Guo noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. China held a grand commemorative ceremony and awarded medals to international friends who made outstanding contributions to China’s War of Resistance. This fully embodies the solemn commitment of the Chinese government and people to honor fallen heroes, remember history, cherish peace, and create a better future. The Chinese people will never forget the Flying Tigers’ support during China’s War of Resistance and their invaluable assistance to Chinese troops and civilians. The Consulate General stands ready to work with people from all walks to further advance the cause of China-U.S. friendship. 
Mr. McMullen and Ms. Rossi expressed their gratitude for the medals and highly commended the Chinese government and people for always remembering their old friends. They expressed their commitment to sharing the story of the Flying Tigers, so that the friendship forged in times of hardship between the Chinese and American peoples can be passed down through generations.
