2026-05-27 12:00

On May 21, Consul General Guo Shaochun and his wife Wang Wei met with Mr. Han Zhijiong, son of the late Chinese-American Flying Tigers pilot Han Pijie, and accepted a collection of medals and commemorative badges donated by his father on behalf of the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Guo stated that Chinese-American veterans of the Flying Tigers, represented by Han Pijie, stepped forward at a time of national crisis and risked their lives without hesitation, demonstrating great patriotism and moral courage that deserve admiration. This donation fulfilled Han Pijie’s long-cherished wish and also carried forward the spirit embodied by the Flying Tigers- namely, the shared Sino-U.S. commitment to resisting aggression, defending justice, and fostering friendship and cooperation. Promoting people-to-people exchanges are both an important consensus reached by the two heads of state of China and the United States and the shared desire of the two societies. Through joint efforts, more stories of friendship between the Chinese and American peoples will continue to be written.

Han thanked the Consulate General for helping fulfill his late father’s wish and said he would continue telling the story of the Flying Tigers, while encouraging younger generations in his family and community to inherit and promote the Flying Tigers spirit and contribute to China-U.S. friendship.
