On September 20, Consul General Guo Shaochun and his wife Wang Wei attended the banquet hosted by the Chinese community in Southern California to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and China's National Day. More than 700 representatives of the Chinese community and guests from various sectors attended the event.

Guo stated that over the 77 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Communist Party of China, with the courage to advance self-reform, has led the Chinese people in creating the "two miracles" of rapid economic development and long-term social stability. He added that China has contributed Chinese approaches to addressing global challenges, safeguarding world peace, and promoting global prosperity.

Guo underlined the significance of the meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump in Beijing in May this year, in which the two leaders agreed upon the new vision of building"a constructive China-U.S. relationship of strategic stability". It serves the common interest of both countries to promote the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations. He also said that overseas Chinese and Chinese Americans in the United States have made significant contributions to U.S. economic and social development as well as to friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between China and the United States, and that such contributions deserve recognition and respect from all sides.

Members of the Chinese community presented passionate musical and dance performances, expressing their best wishes for their ancestral homeland and their hopes for lasting friendship between China and the United States.
