Wang Yi expressed that the current China-US relations maintain a stable development momentum. President Xi Jinping accepted President Barack Obama’s invitation to pay a state visit to the US in September. This visit is of great significance to China-US relations. Both sides should coordinate closely and make elaborate preparation of various aspects to ensure the complete success of the visit. In the next phase, both sides should earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, plan and carry out bilateral exchanges at high and all other levels and enhance communication and coordination on bilateral matters as well as major international and regional issues with the focus on President Xi Jinping’s visit to the US, so as to contribute more “positive energy” to China-US relations.
John Kerry expressed that the US warmly welcomes and looks forward to President Xi Jinping’s state visit to the US. The US stands ready to cooperate closely with China to make a thorough preparation.
John Kerry briefed Wang Yi on the latest progress achieved and difficulties they faced in the negotiation on the Iranian nuclear issue and spoke highly of China for its positive efforts to push forward the negotiation process of the Iranian nuclear issue. John Kerry said the negotiation has entered the final stage and the US is willing to maintain close communication with China to jointly facilitate the negotiation to reach final agreement.
Wang Yi expressed that China is a responsible participant of the negotiation on the Iranian nuclear issue and always plays a constructive role. Wang Yi expounded on China’s idea about solving difficulties in the negotiation and stressed that the negotiation has come to a critical stage and should guard against one step short of success. All parties should strengthen their political will, meet each other half way and give impetus to a comprehensive agreement. China stands ready to increase communication with the US at various levels and jointly finish the “last kilometer” of the marathon of the negotiation on the Iranian nuclear issue.
