On December 3, 2015, as this year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin delivered a speech respectively the other day for the photo album "Remember the History and Jointly Safeguard Peace-Commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the World Anti-Fascist War".

Xi Jinping expressed in his speech that China and Russia were two major battlefields in Asia and Europe respectively during the World War II, and the Chinese people and the Russian people, as two main forces in the Asian and European battlefields, made indelible historic contribution to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. China made tremendous national sacrifice in defeating the Japanese militarist aggression, with over 35 million military and civilian causalities. In the hardest part of the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War, numerous sons and daughters of the Chinese nation including Chairman Mao Zedong's son Mao Anying devoted themselves to the heroic fight against the aggression of Nazi Germany. The Russian army and people also offered valuable support for the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and excellent sons and daughters of the Russian nation sacrificed their lives in China. The Chinese people will forever remember their contribution to peace and freedom. In the common cause of the World Anti-Fascist War, the Chinese people and the Russian people forged a wartime friendship with their blood and lives.

Xi Jinping expressed that the Chinese people and the Russian people share weal and woe, and the Chinese people will work with the Russian people to safeguard peace, promote development, steadfastly defend the historical memory written with blood and lives, and make greater contributions to establishing a common destiny community for mankind and facilitating global peace and development.

Vladimir Putin expressed in his speech that the photo album records the history of both peoples jointly combating the vicious and brutal enemies, reproduces the scenes of the armies of the Soviet Union and China fighting heroic battles and at the same time reflects the self-sacrifice spirit of the peace-loving people.

Vladimir Putin said that currently, some countries are trying to falsify the history for the rectification of the name of Nazi and its accomplices. Such shameless act is extremely dangerous for they are provoking new disputes and creating new hatred and violence, therefore, all countries should double cherish the common historical memory and firmly safeguard the truth of the war. He expressed his belief that the photo album will draw extensive attention from the society and further promote Russia-China cooperation in culture and humanistic fields.

The photo album, co-published by China Pictorial of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration and the TASS of the Information Telegraphic Agency of Russia, collects over 200 precious historical pictures, reviews the history of China and Russia fighting side by side in the World Anti-Fascist War and reflects the determination of the Chinese people and the Russian people in defending global peace and justice.
