On January 20, 2020, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at the 2020 New Year Reception of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the one-China principle represents a compelling consensus shared by the international community and a universally recognized norm governing international relations. No matter how the situation may evolve in Taiwan, there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. Nothing will change this historical and legal fact, and nothing will shake the resolve and confidence of the Chinese government and people in advancing reunification.
