On March 23, 2018, Vice President Wang Qishan met at Ziguangge of Zhongnanhai with Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano of the Philippines.

Wang Qishan said that, at the "Two Sessions" just held in China, new state organs and leaders of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) were elected. Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, China will strive to realize the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The Philippines is a traditionally friendly neighbor of China.

Under the common concern and guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Rodrigo Duterte, China-Philippines relations have been continuously consolidated and deepened, as well as kept moving forward for better development.

In the new year, both sides should continuously meet each other halfway, make plans for bilateral relations from a strategic height and long-term perspective, comprehensively implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, and properly handle differences so as to constantly boost the friendly feelings between the two peoples and jointly promote the building of a closer China-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) community of shared future.

Alan Peter Cayetano warmly congratulated China on the successful convening of the "Two Sessions", and said that the Philippine side stands ready to work together with China to push China-Philippines relations for constant and in-depth development.
