On April 18, 2018, Vice President Wang Qishan met at Zhongnanhai with Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali of Nepal.

Wang Qishan expressed that China and Nepal enjoy a long-standing history of exchanges, and are good neighbors and good friends that stand the test of history. Under the joint guidance of leaders of the two countries, China-Nepal relations have developed in a sustained and healthy manner with steady advancement of cooperation in various fields. In China's reform and opening up as well as the construction of socialist modernization, an important piece of experience is to well handle the relationship between stability and development. Stability is the precondition of development, and development is the foundation of stability. China is pleased to see Nepal complete political transformation and shift the focus of national construction to economic development. China supports Nepal in maintaining unity and stability as well as achieving its development goals. It is hoped that the two sides will jointly well implement the existing consensus and agreements, and take the "Belt and Road" construction as an opportunity to expand all-round cooperation, in a bid to promote bilateral relations to new highs.

Pradeep Kumar Gyawali noted that Nepal and China are comprehensive cooperative partners enjoying everlasting friendship and thanked China for its consistent support and assistance. The new Nepalese government will firmly uphold the one-China policy.
